Immigration Initiatives

ICTC's Immigration Initiatives: Your Global ICT Connection is paving the way towards integrating global talent into the Canadian ICT sector by developing key programs, resources and tools for Internationally Educated Professionals (IEPs) and employers with the integral support of partners and stakeholders. We foster partnerships with employers, immigrant serving and community agencies, associations, and governments, allowing our initiatives to help Canadian organizations build and sustain a diverse and inclusive workforce.

PROGRAMS 

Bridging program: Integrated Work Experience Strategy (IWES) is for Internationally Educated Professionals looking for employment in the information and communication technology sector, offered in partnership with JVS Toronto.

NEW! Coaching to Career is a pilot bridging program that matches "employment-ready" ICT IEPs with sector coaches for the ultimate outcome -- employment that integrates previous experience.  Offered in partnership with JVS Toronto and One Million Acts of Innovation.

IEP-ICT employer mentor networking programs: Corporate Connections brings IEPs together with employers for an afternoon of informal mentoring to connect on industry discussions and career guidance.

TOOLS 

E-Learning: Workshops Online is a bilingual e-learning tool for IEPs and immigration stakeholders that provides essential knowledge about working in Canada as well as resources to develop technical, business, language, and workplace communication competencies. It also includes a Language Assessment learning tool.

Self-Assessments: Canada Readiness Tool is a bilingual, competency-based self-assessment tool for IEPs looking to improve their understanding of Canadian ICT workplace culture, communication and competencies.

Employer Directory: Employer Directory includes a searchable list of Canadian ICT companies with links to their career pages – The tool is under construction to serve you better.

HR Management Tool: Human Resources Management Guide for Canadian ICT companies is a practical tool for front-line, hiring and human resource managers establishing effective human resources management strategies, programs and mechanisms.

RESOURCES AND REPORTS 

Situational Analysis of ICT Immigration in Canada: Examines the integration process and the benefits of recruiting internationally educated professionals in the Canadian economy and focuses particularly on IEPs in Information and Communications Technology occupations.

Language Benchmarks for ICT sector: Canada Language Benchmark (CLB) analyses completed on 2 ICT Career Clusters –CLB level 7 or higher needed to work in Canadian ICT occupations.


IEP Entrepreneurial Guide: Provides vital information for IEPs on starting a business within Canada’s ICT sector. 

IEP Guide to the ICT Sector: Offers important information, tips and statistics for IEPs on the Canadian ICT sector.
