Calgary, October 5, 2021—Alberta employers can now draw upon an innovative HR Toolkit to help them hire, engage, and retain digital employees.

The Alberta-based program, Talent Acquisition for the Digital Economy (TADE), provides small and medium-sized organizations free access to hiring strategies, tools, and tips to ramp up their digital technology capabilities, which are increasingly important in today’s economy.

TADE is aimed at helping businesses compete for digital talent, the demand for which has remained strong during the pandemic. Overall employment in Alberta’s digital economy grew by 45,000 from 2010 to 2020, and continued to grow in 2020, while other sectors experienced sharp declines. In fact, digitization helped insulate businesses against the economic slowdown in general, highlighting the crucial nature of having tech skills in any sector.

Alberta’s digital economy (comprised of tech workers across all sectors, as well as in the tech sector itself) employed approximately one in 10 Alberta workers in 2020. ICTC’s latest labour market forecast predicts the demand for digital workers in Alberta to reach 203,000 by 2025, which underscores the need for effective employer resources for onboarding digital workers.
