Ottawa, February 23, 2021— To respond to Canada’s rapidly changing economy and labour market, ICTC will be beta releasing, in the next few weeks, a comprehensive Skill-to-Job Matching Tool. This tool will assist job seekers better gauge their skills against in demand occupations, and chart pathways to upskill or reskill for another industry vertical.

Job seekers currently face an unprecedented period of accelerated digitization and economic uncertainty due to the COVID-19 pandemic amid Canada’s aspirations to enable an inclusive, and smart economy.

In the initial beta release of the Skill-to-Job Matching Tool, jobseekers who have a degree of technical expertise will be able to select from a list of relevant skills (ICTC research-driven) to provide a percentage score assessing their fit for the most in-demand Canadian smart economy jobs.

Subsequent releases of the tool will broaden the database of jobs to include less technical roles and provide verified and vetted course and program guidance tailored to the individual jobseeker needs.

Key features of the ICTC Skill-to-Job Matching Tool include the following:

  • Multi-factor skill-to-job matching system
  • Identifies in-demand skills suitable for each job and identifies the skills they need to develop
  • Over 40 in-demand jobs included initially
  • Anonymous participation—registration not required
  • Available in both French and English
  • Streamlined and intuitive jobseeker’s experience
  • Free to use
