ICTC NATIONAL CYBER SECURITY LEADERSHIP COUNCIL ON YOUTH AND EDUCATION
Katherine Thompson is Senior Advisor, Cyber Security with MNP and is responsible for the management of MNP’s cyber security client relationships in the federal government and critical infrastructure sectors. As Founder and Chair of the Canadian Advanced Technology Alliance (CATA) Cyber Council, Katherine leads a national team of industry advisors whose objective is to increase dialogue around the issues and opportunities facing Canadian industry and government as it pertains to cyber security.
Katherine is regularly called upon to speak on the current state of cyber security in Canada and key issues including national security strategy, protection of critical infrastructure, government policy, securing the Internet of Things and the growing labour skills gap. As an industry advisory to the Canadian government, the CATA Council is assisting in the development of Canada’s national cyber security strategy which will impact many sectors including energy and utilities. Katherine sits as board member of the CATA Public Safety Advisory Board and Greater Toronto Contact Centre Association. Katherine is also currently involved in the creation of a national program providing military veterans with a second career in cyber security. She is also very passionate about raising the level of dialogue around the growing issues of cyber bullying and how to protect young people online.
Katherine holds degrees in Advertising and Public Relations from St. Lawrence College and Public Relations from Ryerson University
